• As Lindsay Duncan has been cast as a companion, she is the oldest actor to play a companion since the beginning of the series, although this title will be taken away from her in the next episode when Bernard Cribbins becomes the Doctor's companion.
• Russel T Davies has said in Doctor Who Magazine that this will be a very scary episode of Doctor Who, as he described it "nightmarish". Therefore it may be be broadcast on Saturday 31st October, Halloween.
• Julie Gardner said on the Easter DW Confidential that another Your Song is Ending style reference will be made in this episode as well as playing a massive part last 2 specials.
• The IMDB.com website have placed on their website that the broadcast date is the 14th November 2009. Whether this is true is yet to be revealed.
• Filming for the special began on 23 February 2009.[5] In late February, David Tennant, Duncan and other actors were seen filming in Victoria Place, Newport.[10] The filming took place on a city street, which the production team covered with artificial snow.[10] Also present during filming were a small robot inscribed with the word "GADGET" and Ood Sigma, from the 2008 episode Planet of the Ood.[11]
• On 28 July 2009, a new trailer was shown at the 2009 San Diego Comic Con, soon after it was posted on the BBC website. The trailer showed the Doctor talking about how time can be in flux, however, on Mars, and sometimes, it can be a fixed point. The episode revealed the water "must not be touched". Finally, the Doctor says to Adelaide: "they said I was going to die, they said he was going to knock four times and I think I know what that means but it doesn't mean right here, right now cos I don't hear anyone knocking, do you?" Suddenly from the side of the Mars base, something knocks four times.
• The cloister bell can be heard ringing in the teaser, it is unclear if it will be heard in the story or is just used as part of the teaser soundtrack.

-         RTD azt mondta a DWM-ben, hogy ez egy nagyon horrorisztikus r�sz lesz. �gy lehets�ges, hogy Halloween-re esik. Mert Okt�ber 31, szombat lesz. Ha eddig �nnepekre estek a k�l�nkiad�sok, akkor ez mi�rt is ne?

-         Febru�rban filmezt�k a Mars Vizei utols� jelenet�t. Mesters�ges h�val k�r�lhintett k�rny�ken el�l�p a Tardis-b�l a Doktor, Adelaide, Mia, Ed, �s egy marsj�r�, amire az van �rva hogy GADGET (szerkenty�) ami biztos egy r�vid�t�s. Biztos �k a Marson t�rt�n� robban�s utols� t�l�l�i, akiket nem fert�z�tt meg semmi.

-         Az utols� trailer-ben a Doktor azt mondja: „Az id� egy folyamatosan v�ltoz� dolog, de vannak benne fix pontok is” „Ne �rjetek hozz� a v�zhez” (Biztos az�rt, mert akkor �tv�ltoznak) „A v�z mindig gy�z” „Azt mondt�k meg fogok halni. Azt is mondt�k hogy n�gyszer fog kopogni, amit azt hiszem tudom hogy mit jelent. De azt nem tudom hogy mi�rt �pp itt �s most. �n nem hallok most senkit kopogni, �s te?” „BUMMMBUMMMBUMMMBUMMM”

-         A k�perny�n villog egy n� egy kisbab�val. Aki… lehet hogy Rose???

-         RTD azt is mondta hogy ez a r�sz kapcsol�dni fog az utols� fin�l�khoz. Lehet hogy annyira mint a „Turn Left” a „Stolen Earth”-h�z. Vagy mint az „Utopia” a „Sound of Drums”-hoz.

-         A kolostor harang is megsz�lal a trailer-ben, de nem tudjuk hogy kapcsol�dik e a filmhez. Tal�n van k�ze a Doktor kijelent�s�hez? „Az id� egy folyamatosan v�ltoz� dolog, de vannak benne fix pontok is”
